A scarce French edition of The Hobbit, combining Francis Ledoux's translation, Alan Lee's evocative Shire cover and Tolkien's maps in French.

Published by Christian Bourgois Editeur, Paris, in 1992. This laminated paperback preserves the traditional French title Bilbo le Hobbit. It contains 309 pages, ISBN 978-2-267-01127-2, and carries its original 120-franc price on the rear.

The book includes Thror's Map and the map tracing Bilbo's journey across Wilderland, both reproduced with French names and annotations. The title verso records the 1937 George Allen & Unwin publication, the 1969 French translation from Editions Stock and this 1992 Bourgois issue.

Condition:
Very well preserved, with bright clean covers, light surface and edge rubbing, minor corner wear and mild page toning. The white spine is complete and legible, the binding appears firm, and no ownership inscription or annotation is visible in the supplied photographs.

A difficult-to-find French Tolkien edition in unusually attractive condition and a strong addition to an international Hobbit collection.
